Avila sits on hot springs. Two places in the valley, a few minutes inland from the beach, pipe the water into tubs and pools you can book for an hour or a day. A soak after a cold morning on the water or a long walk is one of the best things you can do here, and it works in any weather.
Sycamore Mineral Springs

Avila Bay Club Spa
At the Avila Bay Athletic Club, about halfway along the Bob Jones Trail. The gym is for members, but the spa is open to the public every day, with massages, facials, body treatments, nails and waxing.
Planning your soak
Both springs are along Avila Beach Drive near the valley end of the Bob Jones Trail, and close to Avila Valley Barn. A soak is an easy rainy day plan and one of our favorite date ideas. Sycamore and Avila Hot Springs also have rooms and campsites; see hotels and camping.
Local tips
- Book a Sycamore tub after dark to soak under the stars; the last slots start late in the evening.
- Sycamore charges peak rates on holiday weekends, so a weekday soak saves money.
- Kids under 8 can't use the hot mineral pool at Avila Hot Springs, but they can swim in the heated pool.
- Walk or bike the Bob Jones Trail first and finish with a soak; both springs are near the valley end of the trail.
