Avila Beach is small, so the right place to stay depends on how you want to spend your trip. There are five hotels and inns, about 76 vacation rentals, and three places to camp or park an RV.

Hotels and inns. Avila Beach House and the Inn at Avila Beach sit on Front Street across from the sand, and Avila La Fonda is a block back. In the Avila Valley, Avila Village Inn and Sycamore Mineral Springs sit along the Bob Jones Trail, and every room at Sycamore has its own mineral spring hot tub.

Vacation rentals. Cottages, condos and homes downtown, in the valley and up See Canyon. They're a good fit for families and groups who want a kitchen. Ask to see the county vacation rental permit before you pay.

Camping and RV. The old roadside sites at Port San Luis closed in 2024. Today you can camp at Flying Flags Avila Beach on the bluff at the port, at Avila Hot Springs in the valley, or at the KOA a few minutes inland.

Nearby. When Avila is booked, Shell Beach, Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo are a short drive away. In summer, a free trolley runs from Pismo to Avila.
