Sinor-LaVallee is a family winery that Mike and Cherie Sinor started in 1997. Its tasting room is at 550 1st Street, a block from the beach, and it opened in 2015. The winery calls itself second generation, and the family also runs Shuck Shack on Front Street.
Grown in the Avila Valley
The wine comes from Bassi Vineyard, a 30-acre vineyard in the Avila Valley about 1.2 miles from the ocean. Mike Sinor bought it in 2013. The list has included pinot noir, syrah, grenache, chardonnay, pinot gris and albariƱo, made in small amounts each year. Check the website for what's pouring now.
Oysters on the patio
Oysters are the other draw. They're served daily until they run out, and you can shuck your own on the patio with gear and instructions from the staff. To be sure you get some, reserve a half or full dozen ahead online.
Check the website for current hours before you go. For more tasting rooms within walking distance, see Wine Tasting.

- Reserve oysters ahead on the winery's website so you don't miss out.
- Try shucking your own. The staff hands you the gear and shows you how.
- The same family runs Shuck Shack on Front Street, if you want more oysters with natural wine.
