Shuck Shack is an oyster and natural wine bar at 480 Front Street, run by the Sinor-LaVallee winemaking family. It's a small, oceanfront room with about 50 seats, and it keeps things simple: fresh oysters, a few coastal snacks with a Spanish and European lean, and a glass of something interesting.
Beach clothes are fine, and kids are welcome.
Oysters and small plates
Oysters are the star, shucked to order. The rest of the menu is small plates built around local ingredients and kept simple on purpose. It's more of a snack-and-sip stop than a full dinner, which makes it a good first stop before a meal elsewhere on Front Street.
The wine list
The list is all small-production natural wine: grapes farmed with care and made with as little added in the cellar as possible. Most bottles come from the Central Coast, many from friends and longtime collaborators of the family, with a few imports mixed in. The list rotates, so ask what's open. For more tasting rooms in town, see Wine Tasting.
Around Shuck Shack
You're on the promenade, a short walk from Blue Moon Over Avila and the rest of Front Street. For fresh fish to cook at home, go to the fish market at Harford Pier (see Fish Markets).
