Alapay Cellars has poured wine in Avila Beach for more than twenty years. The tasting room is at 415 1st Street, a block back from the sand, and it's open every day with no reservation needed. Inside, the room has an ocean theme to match the town.

The wines

Winemakers and owners Scott and Rebecca Remmenga make whites, reds and dessert wines in small lots from nearby vineyards, and age them in French oak barrels. A tasting is $30 per person, and the fee is waived when you buy a bottle.

Music and a walk to dinner

There's live music on Wednesdays and Sundays from 4 to 6 p.m. When you're done, you're a short walk from dinner on Front Street. See Restaurants for ideas, or keep going to Sinor-LaVallee up the street. All the in-town rooms are on our Wine Tasting page.

Local tips

  • Go on a Wednesday or Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. for live music.
