SLO Creek Farms is a family-owned organic orchard at 6455 Monte Road, just inland from Avila Beach. It's the place on the Avila Apple Trail to pick your own apples. The farm has about 40 acres of apple trees, plus 3 acres of organic vegetables, herbs, honey and flowers.
Picking your own apples
There are two U-pick apple areas. One is at the front apple stand on San Luis Bay Drive, and the other is in the garden area on Monte Road. You pay by the size or weight of your basket. Varieties include Jonalicious, Empire, Early Fuji, Gala, September Wonders, Sundancers, Granny Smith and Braeburn, ripening at different times through the season. Picking days depend on the fruit and the weather, so the farm asks families to call ahead and make sure conditions are right. Check the website for the current number.
More than apples
In season there are pumpkins, vegetables, flowers and herbs too, and a picnic area. The farm also gives back. It works with Glean SLO and donates apples to the local food bank.
Getting there
SLO Creek Farms isn't on See Canyon Road with the other farms. It's off San Luis Bay Drive, a short drive from Avila Beach toward Highway 101, so map it separately. It's an easy stop with the Avila Valley Barn on the same trip. The rest of the trail is on Farms & the Apple Trail.
Local tips

- You pay by the size or weight of your basket, so pick a basket that matches how much you want.
