Mr. Rick's has been the beach bar on Avila's promenade since 1992. It sits at 404 Front Street, as close to the sand as a bar gets in town, and its big accordion doors fold open onto an ocean-view patio. It's a full bar with pub food.
What to order at Mr. Rick's
Beer is the big draw, with 16 rotating taps and a fridge of bottles, including Central Coast brewers like Firestone Walker, SLO Brew and Figueroa Mountain. For cocktails, the house signatures are the Coronarita and the Rick's Bloody, a Bloody Mary made with pepper vodka. The food is beach bar fare: nachos, fish and chips, clam chowder, tacos and salads.

Mr. Rick's has live music through the week, with acoustic sets on the patio on Sunday afternoons, plus karaoke nights and pool tables inside.
